FLARED

31Bits Bracelet (c/o) / Flare Jeans (old/ similar here) / J. Crew Boyfriend Sweater / Rory Beca Blazer (similar here) / Zara Heels / Kate Spade Bag / Catbird Rings / JewelMint Bracelet and Ring (c/o) / Maybeline Elixr in Rasberry Rhapsody (c/o)

I knew one day my flared jeans would come back! Well really, I have never given up on them because for a petite (okay, short) girl they definitely give length to shorter legs. Pairing flared jeans with a swing sweater and a structured blazer is the perfect look for a date night. My friends over at 31Bits just released their new Holiday campaign. If you are not familiar with this amazing company, they teach women in Uganda how to make jewelry out of 100 percent recycled paper and the women earn fair income from the pieces sold. So, really not only is the jewelry beautiful, you can feel good wearing it! Be sure to check out the sparkly line, and Julia is just darling in the campaign too!

I have always wanted to try a berry lip. I am actually I total red lipstick kind of girl (thanks to my friend Michelle) but this Fall I wanted to switch it up. So what are your thoughts about the berry lip? Do you like it or should I stick with red?

EAU DE PARFUM

A little secret about me, I love eu de parfum. But the funny thing is, I have never found one I truely love until I was recently in New York and tried my cousin’s lust-worthy Diptyque eu de parfum.  Naturally, I knew I would love it because let’s be honest, they are the best smelling candles on the market, but I never thought to try the fragrance.  I stopped into the store and tried a bunch of different scents, but ended up with L’Ombre dans l’Eau. It is my absolute favorite scent I have tried so far. Since fragrances are so personal, what are your favortie scents?

PS: Today is the last day to enter the John Ruvin Giveaway, the winner will be announced tomorrow!

DAY IN THE LIFE- BEAUTY

In the summer months or what I like to call “shorts” season, lotion is essential to my morning routine.  Naturally, I am always in a hurry in the morning after working out, showering, picking out an outfit- which normally takes the longest part of my morning, and feeding the dogs; really the last thing I want to do is stop to put on lotion and wait for it to dry before heading out the door. But really who likes to look at dry legs? I always hate when I am in the car and realize I forgot and get a little grossed out at myself, does anyone else do that or is it just me?

Thanks to Vaseline for sending me some of their new Spray and Go Moisturizer because now all of my lotion problems have been solved.  Last week I started using the lotion everyday, and it has been added to my morning routine.  You just spray it on (don’t worry it doesn’t get all over like sunscreen), rub it in, and head out the door! The best part is that it dries instantly, so when you want to wear pants or jeans, you can slide them on without waiting a second! I particularly love the Aloe scent, but they have two other choices, Cocoa Radiant and Total Moisture to choose from that I am sure are equally as great.

Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturizer is a quick, continuous 360 spray lotion that moisturizes deeply and absorbs in seconds, so you can put your clothes right on and get on with your day. Available in three formulas — Total Moisture, Aloe Fresh, Cocoa Radiant — this fast to apply, quick to absorb line of lotions leaves skin instantly soft, not sticky or greasy. THINGS I LOVE

I just love the summer months- maybe it has something to do with growing up in Arizona and the scalding hot temps, but I love sun and being outside when the sun is shining. Since we have officially kicked off summer with the Memorial Day weekend, the pool is finally open and I cannot wait to throw on my new suit– I am seriously obsessing over Marysia’s zig zag suits. I really wanted this Flamingo print, but I decided to go safe and get the solid blush color. I love how it looks with a good tan!

Patrick and I are headed to Nashville for the first time to go see Bob Dylan in concert, do a little bar hopping on Broadway street, and hopefully see sweet Jessica. I have a long list of places to eat, and I am so excited. We are definitely stopping at Mas Tacos for lunch but if any of you lovies have any advice I would love to hear your recommendations.

I have had an obsession with fresh berries as of late. I have been eating them at almost every meal and they are not too bad in a glass of champagne either. My drink of choice this month has been a glass of rose, or a delicious Greyhound..the grapefruit juice is just so refreshing.

With a good tan, I try not to wear as much makeup. I love a NARS illumnator and a dusting of NARS Laguna bronzer for the perfect glow and some soft pink lip gloss and normally call it a day. Do you have any beauty favorites for the summer months?

SKIN + HELP

So I know I am never going to look like a super model and I have been pretty blessed with clear skin my entire life (thanks mom and dad) but I cannot help but notice lately that I have been getting a little rosey in the cheeks and little spotty in my t-zone. I know it is the fact that I am getting older and I grew up always being outside in the strong Arizona sun, but I just always wished that my skin would be perfectly tan and smooth until I was old (back in the day when I thought old was 40 years old).  Since I left for college and my mom gave me my first skin care package, I have made an effort to try and take care of my skin (I know I am probably a little too late to the game).  Honestly until I went to college, I had only ever used Dove soap and Oil Olay face lotion with SPF 15. I also never wore face makeup until about four years ago and it was awesome.  For the last year or so I have been hearing my friends rave about their Clarisonic, but I really never knew what it was other than it was just AH-MAZING and kind of pricey but totally worth it. Lately I have really started to think about my skin and how important taking good care of it now will save years later.  So I decided it is time to pull the trigger and try this life changing device.

Does anyone have any recommendations for me and my sensitive skin? Are there better ones than others?  Any advice would be great for this first timer!

BEAUTY SWAP

I am so excited because tonight one of my girlfriends is hosting a beauty exchange (some people think it’s gross, but I think it is brilliant).  The night will be filled with swapping shampoos and conditioners, hair products that have been sitting in our medicine cabinets for months, beauty secrets and of course, all over a great glass of bubbly.  With this winter weather still lingering, my face and body have been extra dry. Is anyone else feeling this way?  I have found that Philosophy is the only brand that actually has cured my dry skin.  It also doesn’t hurt that I love the branding.

LOVE YOU, FRIDAY

I am so excited to be sharing over on Dahilia Lynn today.  Jessica, my roomie from ALT summit this year, asked me to be a part of her sweet Love You series and I was so excited. If you are not familiar, it is a series about self-love and inner beauty and I think it is absolutely wonderful and different from the usual Q&A or style post. It is something that I thought would be easy for me to write, but I realized I am not so wonderful writing about myself. So anyways, enough about me and more about Jessica. She is one of those people that you just instantly love because her creative energy and positive personality are so contagious. I am so happy that we were able to spend a short week together, even if she was under the weather.  So go over to Dahilia Lynn today and check it out.

Oh and did I mention Jessica is one of the most talented people I have ever met.  Her eye for style and her vintage and one-of-a-kind jewelry are seriously out of this world.

ps. thank you for all the kind words about feeling better.  Lots of soup, hot tea, and sleep is definitely helping.

PRETTY DO’S

Ever feel like you need a change?  I realized that I have had the same hair style since I was 5 years old when grew out my bangs. Granted the length has changed from time to time, but my straight, parted to the side, long layered hair, is in desperate need of a face lift.  Since I don’t dye my hair (and not really looking to start) I need some new ideas on how to switch it up. These pretty do’s may just be the answer to my issues. I love the loose braid in the first picture, or just messy waves.  I may even try them out this week and if I still feel a change, color may be the answer.  What are your thoughts on coloring your hair?  I like my brown hair but sometimes it just feels a little dull.

A Sleek Pony

I always try to wear my hair in a ponytail when I am getting ready in the morning, especially when I don’t feel like blowing it straight or curling it for work, but every time it always looks like I am going to the gym.  Recently, my hairstylist taught me how to do make a sleek ponytail, which is one of the new hairstyle trends for Fall.  Here are the products she used to make a perfect pony.  She first washed my hair with Bumble and Bumble Shine Shampoo and Conditioner, then sprayed with Bumble and Bumble Prep in my wet hair.  She blow dryed and styled my hair straight, then parted and smoothed my hair with a bristle brush. After she tied it back, she sprayed Does It All over my hair and it was perfect. See some other Fall hair trends here.
