FEELING FALL

Hello, October! Is this anyone else’s favorite month of the year?…Well, it is really the season for me because there is nothing better than a cozy cable knit sweater, warm cup of coffee, blanket and a wood burning fire place. There are no travel details this week because, for the first time in a while, we will be enjoying a few of my favorite things at home. Just think, staying in your pjs all day, watching romantic comedies, and baking some pumpkin goodies. We might even find somewhere to do some apple picking, doesn’t that sound fun?  What are some of your favorite things about Fall?

GLAM STYLE APP AND NYFW

Although NYFW is officially over, all of the fun doesn’t stop here.  When Glam asked me to review there new GLAM Style App, I just knew it was going to be something spectacular, because let’s be honest- they are awesome. Thanks to the new app, this entire week I was able to get the inside scoop on what was happening in New York from some of my stylish friends, top style makers and designers. If you have 3 seconds today you should download the app here for free.  Some of my favorite articles to point out are Jenna Lyons style tips, Lela Rose’s famous biscotti recipe, and the ever hilarious, Hallie Wilson’s survival tips. The app even lists the best hotels, restaurants, and night life scene to be spotted at in NYC.  Since I know I will be in NYC come this February, I will definitely be using these tips and tricks for my first go-around at Fashion Week.  I am sure there is going to be great content to follow this first edition, so be sure to download the app for insider info on interviews with experts, fashion trends, events and more!

NEAT THINGS

I just wanted to say thank you all so much for the kind words today about my big news.  I am very excited and it means so much to hear from you!

I was browsing over on the darling Fabulous K today and found this awesome site for camera straps.  I have not only been looking to upgrade from my Cannon (boring) strap, but they are a company that gives back to the community.  Fotostrap makes these super cute leather and canvas camera straps with the option to monogram.  I mean seriously who doesn’t love a good monogram.  I think I am going to put The James on my birthday list (its only 2 weeks away!) or maybe the Navy Canvas, but I seriously love them all.  You can find all of them here, and I am telling you if you have a SLR camera this is going to be one of the first things on your wish list!

EYE CANDY

Sorry for the lack of “Lately” pictures today, honestly not much exciting happened over here this past weekend.  I spent most of the weekend at work and some did major lounging the other part of the weekend.  I am excited for this week to be a little slower pace and enjoy the warm weather (finally!).  Lindsay and I are headed to happy hour tomorrow and Patrick arrives on Thursday- so I have a lot to look forward to this week.

Today, I plan to take a deep breath, dig out of a long list of emails, and try for an early night at home.  In the meantime, check out these beautiful pictures from the extrememly talented, Jamie of Ann Street Studio.  If I lived in New York, this event would be my dream, I mean endless bottles of Veuve Clicquot… yes, please.

THINGS I LOVE

I just love the summer months- maybe it has something to do with growing up in Arizona and the scalding hot temps, but I love sun and being outside when the sun is shining. Since we have officially kicked off summer with the Memorial Day weekend, the pool is finally open and I cannot wait to throw on my new suit– I am seriously obsessing over Marysia’s zig zag suits. I really wanted this Flamingo print, but I decided to go safe and get the solid blush color. I love how it looks with a good tan!

Patrick and I are headed to Nashville for the first time to go see Bob Dylan in concert, do a little bar hopping on Broadway street, and hopefully see sweet Jessica. I have a long list of places to eat, and I am so excited. We are definitely stopping at Mas Tacos for lunch but if any of you lovies have any advice I would love to hear your recommendations.

I have had an obsession with fresh berries as of late. I have been eating them at almost every meal and they are not too bad in a glass of champagne either. My drink of choice this month has been a glass of rose, or a delicious Greyhound..the grapefruit juice is just so refreshing.

With a good tan, I try not to wear as much makeup. I love a NARS illumnator and a dusting of NARS Laguna bronzer for the perfect glow and some soft pink lip gloss and normally call it a day. Do you have any beauty favorites for the summer months?

DETAILS: SAN FRANCISCO

Earlier this week I headed west for a work trip to San Fran to meet with a few folks and my boss.  I really can’t believe it but I have never been to San Francisco before. The city is wonderful and honestly I did not want to leave.  From the weather to the shopping to the culturally diverse people, that city is really like no where else in the US.  I left full, inspired, and ready for my next adventure.

The classic Golden Gate Bridge shot from our last day in San Fran

The food was incredible at every meal.  We had a latte La Boulange, sushi (I wish I remembered the name) at a local spot near the ballpark, street tacos in Mission at La Taquerilla, brunch at the Grove, and chow mein at R and G’s in Chinatown.

Walked our way through city getting lost at every turn (all of which was completely unplanned) Union Square, Notting Hill, Fisherman’s Warf, China Town, and ATT Park were a few of the places we stopped.

The last day we played tourist and hopped on a cable car, stopped at Lomard Street and walked across the Bridge.

LATELY

Happy Tax day! Just kidding, hopefully every one has turned in those brutal forms and is in the clear.  This weekend just flew right by, probably because it was jam packed with work, events and family time. I kind of feel like I need a few days to relax after my weekend, but instead I am off and running again.  This week is the going to be a nuts finalizing all of the last little details of our big charity event on Saturday (thankfully Patrick is coming in town to help with the heavy lifting!)

So back to the weekend; Saturday afternoon Michele and I (thanks to La Crema Wines) ventured downtown for a preview of Dining by Design and enjoyed a panel full of experts in the event and entertaining worlds. I was blown away by some of the theme interpretations and the effort that goes into making an event like this happen. We chatted with a few designers and snapped some photos of the space.

APRIL THINGS

So I know this is a little late and we are already five days into April.. I cannot believe it is already April! This year has just flown by. I think most of you know by now that I work for a Major League Baseball team, so right now my day job has pretty much taken over my life, but in a good way.  Our Home Opener is less than a week away and it all starts again.  Honestly I will be thankful to not have to sit in front of a computer all day long for the next 6 months.  When I started looking for jobs after college, I knew I needed a career that did not involve sitting in a cube from 9-5. After a lot of searching, I ended up with the best of both worlds and I could not be happier.  I started blogging a little over two years ago and it is honestly something I do that makes me happy everyday. Even as busy as I am sometimes, this blog is a place where I can be honest, creative, and be myself.  I will continue to do this everyday for as long as I still enjoy it and you all are the one’s who make it worth it. So thank you for continuing to come back everyday and read and comment about my crazy life.

What are some of your favorite things about April?  I know I am super excited for some hopefully warmer weather in the near future!

IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

Now that we finally have all of our “big” furniture orders complete, like our sofa and chair, and this coffee table that arrives today. I am so excited to fill in with the little details, like pillows and art, and of course some great coffee table books.  I have been struggling to pick a color pallet for the living room. At first I wanted everything to be white. Ya know, like white walls, white sofa, pillows, you name it but then I snapped back into reality and realized that I have two 65 pound dogs that like to snuggle.  So, there I was with no ideas and had to change my entire plan (and of course it was for the better).  We ended up with a neutral linen that pretty much goes with just about anything, and a cream wool knotted rug that Patrick still thinks was a mistake (I obviously disagree).  So here is the other dilemma, I found these awesome tufted ottomans on Craigslist that definitely need some love and new fabric but I was still struggling on a color pallet. Well, that was until a few days ago when I came across these Rebecca Atwood pillows.  Talk about perfect timing, it was like someone took the idea out of my head.  I am obsessed with the two tone, one of a kind pillows with the perfect gold detail on the zipper.  Immediately I ordered these and these for the sofa, and still on the lookout for the perfect fabric for the ottomans, but at least I have a little direction now.  If any of you lovely readers have great fabric sites, I would love to hear!
