LOVE YOU, FRIDAY

After a long week, I am excited to welcome the weekend with open arms.

To kick off the first weekend of December we are headed to the tree farm to pick out our first christmas tree, I will be making my first batch of sugar cookies, and I will be wearing this black jumpsuit to our first holiday party. I hope your weekend is filled with lots of holiday cheer.

I also plan to make a fire, snuggle up with a blanket on the couch and binge watch old episodes of the OC (insert embarrassed face here).

Happy Thanksgiving! I have so much to be thankful for this year. I plan to unplug, enjoy spending time with my new extended family and being a part of their yearly traditions. First off, the annual family soccer game (wish me luck) and then stuffing our faces with all. the. food.

I also want to say a big THANKS to all of you! You make it so much fun for me to wake up everyday and do what I do. I am able to be creative and adventurous because of all you readers! So thank you so much for your continued support of A Dash of Details. It means so much!

SLEEPING IN

The sun is going down earlier, but still I have been waking up well after the sun comes up.

I have always been a morning person. I like to think it is one of my positive traits, my first boss may disagree ;) I wake up happy and ready to start the day off on a good foot. I am normally the most productive in the first 2 hours of my day. Lately my days have been starting significantly later then I would like. Thankfully, since I work at home I have the flexibility to roll out of bed and start my day, but no matter what my work schedule looked like, I used to wake up at 6am on the dot. Since being sick this Fall, my schedule has completely shifted and I am lucky if I wake up before 8am. Losing those early morning hours has changed my entire schedule and those quiet morning hours watching the sunrise have been far and few between.

So here’s to getting back to those early mornings and to chat about this simple outfit. You will find me in this or some variation of this look on a daily basis. Add heels and you are ready for date night or drinks with the girls. If you are living anywhere in the South, you probably have been sans coat this season. However, adding this coat would complete this look for those chilly nights.

It’s been a while since I have done a life update, so without further adieu…

Last week my friend Mackenzie hosted a pop-up shop at her office. She has the best hostess gifts and I am obsessed with these matches.

The Royals are headed to the World Series tomorrow and we could not be more excited. We made a few last minute trips to Kansas City last two weekends to watch the boys in blue play their hearts out. If you are looking for fun sporting/game day shirts, I love Charlie Hustle Shop.

Speaking of Kansas City, there is a new barbecue restaurant in Dallas called 18th and Vine. It was soo good.

Thankfully, it is finally cooling down in Dallas. I hate to say it but I am officially over 90 degrees. I have been eyeing all of the sweaters at J.Crew. They are even having 25% off full price items…YES PLEASE.

Yesterday marked six months since our wedding day. We have been on the best adventure so far and I know it is just the beginning. In case you missed it, our wedding was on Style Me Pretty. Even six months later, this was still the best day of our lives.

It was paradise.

Spending our days together in the sun was just what the doctor ordered. After a magical week in Arizona, we jetted off to the Four Seasons in Costa Rica for the most incredible week of our lives- I promise there is more to come on our honeymoon.

With vacation season and summer quickly approaching today is all about cover-ups. Eberjey has always been my go-to for intimates. Yipppeee. So glad that it is Friday and the start to the weekend. I have been fighting off a cold all week which turned into me missing a ton of events and fun things going on in Dallas. I spent a lot of time sleeping, working from bed, and snuggling with my puppies and now I am finally feeling better just in time for the weekend.

Do you have any holiday parties to attend this weekend? I am still waiting to wear my favorite festive skirt (thanks to my darn cold). I have a cookie exchange on Sunday and plan to wear something warm and cozy. Any recommendations on what kind of cookies to make? One of my favorite holiday traditions from when I lived at home was when my mom and I used to make cookie baskets for all of her clients. We would spend all weekend baking and delivering the baskets to her favorite people. It was such a treat, especially because we always made a few extras for us!

COZY VEST

This Dallas weather is throwing me for quite the loop. Last week it was in the 80’s and today the 30’s. Being this is our first winter in Texas, I have been going through my closet trying to make some room for pieces I know will be in constant rotation throughout these mild (or so I thought) winter months. One of my favorite trends, as of late, is the oversized vest-coat. I picked up this Theory vest a few weeks ago and have since become obsessed. I have been wearing it everywhere this week; to the grocery store, out to lunch, and even on date night. Pretty much the perfect thing to throw on over any outfit.

I also might be late to the game, but I just recently found a new love for J.Crew denim. Talk about fitting like a glove, these black jeans are a new favorite of mine. They have the perfect amount of stretch, but don’t give you saggy knees (I hope you know what I am talking about) by the end of the day. The best part is everything is 25% off right now, so it’s even a better reason to buy them in every color.
