With my upcoming nuptials, I have really been trying to step up my beauty game.  I am a total creature of habit when it comes to skincare and makeup.  I started using Tata Harpers Regenerating Cleanser and the Rebuilding Moisturizer back in December, and I can’t imagine using anything else on my face.  I finally caved and bought a Clarisonic last year, but other than that my regimen is pretty minimal. I have been wanting to try a eyelash conditioner for sometime now, but I wasn’t sure if it would actually work. That is, until I saw my momma last month and noticed her eyelashes were soooo long (she thinks they doubled in length).  Thanks to my parents for listening to my “hints,” they sent me a bottle of RevitaLash to try for my birthday.  Per my fiance, his one request for the wedding is that I do not wear any fake eyelashes (it’s a long story for another time), so hopefully this RevitaLash keeps my eyelashes looking long and healthy. After doing some research, I should notice a difference within the first 3 months….so keep your fingers crossed for me. Do you have any beauty products you swear by, please share with my in the comments section.

Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.

I know it is not the most earth shattering trend, but after a long winter I am definitely craving lots floral print. Thanks to Michele, I started browsing the Shopbop Sale and pretty much want to buy everything (thanks to tax day, that probably shouldn’t happen) .

Does anyone else feel the urge to clean out their closet of all the old and fill with new, pretty things? I know it is not realistic but a girl can dream right? Maybe a few floral pieces to freshen up my Spring wardrobe is just what I need.

Here are a few of my favorite florals from the Friends and Family Sale Event (it ends tomorrow at midnight, so just be impulsive like me).  Now you can just click directly on the images above to shop! I think Miranda Priestly would say… revolutionary, but maybe I am just naive. Happy Hump (Shopping) Day!

This girl is bananas. If you didn’t know already, I have a maj crush on Rachel Zoe. Not only is she uber-talented; she has proven that hard work and passion made her so successful and she is not planning on slowing down anytime soon.  She not only does she have the cutest son, her own fab brand, but her office… I DIE. Seriously the Coveteur has such a unique way of capturing the personalities of their subjects. It is one of my must- reads everyday. But really can we talk about those Hermes bags? Again, I die. Just too good.

This is the first weekend I will be home for an entire weekend in almost 3 months and it has never felt better. I feel like the weather read my mind (rain in the forecast all weekend) so I could just cozy up on the couch with my favorite blanket, Pinterest and a whole lot of football to watch and not feel guilty about getting things done.

Since I plan to do a whole lot of nothing, I am excited to catch up on some internet browsing:

I am going to be searching for a few dresses for upcoming wedding weekends. I am really loving this one, and this one that is only $50, but the search continues.

Buying for a cause has never been better, Merritt made a great round up of awesome products that support Breast Cancer Awareness.

Kinda loving The Cut’s 50 best Spring 2014 Fashion Week shoe picks… I didn’t know socks and heels was a thing though.

Definitely want to make this chili recipe for Sunday night dinner. And maybe some corn bread on the side.

Do ya’ll read the Skimm? I am a daily reader, but I have just been loving it even more lately.

Happy weekend lovies!

Doesn’t this outfit just scream Fall?  There is something about a tan and navy color combination that feels so classic and makes me want to go apple picking.  I scored this amazing real leather skirt from one of my favorite top designers at TJMaxx when I was in Dallas.  If you live anywhere by Northpark Mall in Dallas, you much stop across the street for some amazing deals. The largest Runway section I have ever seen!  The entire women’s and beauty department was full of the brands I would buy full price, but literally at a fraction of the price. If you were checking out my instagram, you may have noticed the leather jacket I scored for under $150 (yes, this was a true #maxxinista find).

When it comes to leather I am very picky. I am all about texture and quality when it comes to all of my clothes, so finding this leather skirt at TJ Maxx is everything.  It feels as soft as butter and the color will work for any occasion. This designer find can be dressed down with a gausey sweater, like the navy one I am wearing above, and some booties.  Or to dress up this look, I would pair my new favorite skirt with a black silk blouse, textured jacket and a great heel.  The trends this Fall are all about mixing textures and volumes, so I love that this classic silhouette will allow me to mix and match with some of my favorite cable knit sweaters and structured tops.

Another trend this Fall is the All American look (or what I like to call: the 90s are back). During 2013 F/W NYFW many of the top designers were featuring this trend. To add a pop of color and pattern to a mostly neutral look, I suggest tucking in a plaid button down top into a leather skirt to give the look a little edge. I always try to give each of my classic looks a hint of edge and leather is the perfect way to do this. This black quilted leather skirt (from TJ Maxx online) would also be a great ways to give an All American look a little bit of Rock and Roll.

When I wear a neutral outfit, I am all about the red nail.  I found this color in the beauty department and knew I just needed to have this vibrant color in my collection. Another fun thing I found in the beauty department last week was my favorite pumpkin spiced soaps. I love adding a seasonal touch to my house with festive hand towels and hand soap for our guest bathroom and kitchen.

Expressing yourself through fashion, and knowing how to put together a great look—at great value, is what being a Maxxinista is all about.  At T.J.Maxx you can score the unexpected to make your own personal style statement. Here’s to rockin’ your real deal.

Everytime Patrick comes to town for a weekend our goal is to try and go to at least one new restaurant in the city.  This weekend we made that happen, but instead of one we tried four new-to-us restaurants.  We ended up at Voltaire in the West Bottoms, Anton’s Taproom in the Crossroads, Remedy in Waldo and Port Fonda in Westport, it was our own little perfect food tour of Metro Kansas City. On Monday, Patrick let me snap a few photos in front of the Roasterie sign downtown.  Since we are talking about supporting local businesses, I thought I should mention that everything except his watch face was purchased or designed by someone local to Kansas City.  His tee, hat, and denim are all Baldwin, his shoes are from Standard Style and his watchband comes from a local leather company called KC Co.  Both of us take pride in supporting Kansas City, so every couple weeks I am going to highlight a brand, restaurant, store, or artist that we genuinely enjoy.

For a girl who grew up watching Full House, The Adventures of Mary Kate and Ashley, Two of a Kind and the list goes on; I have always been a fan of MK and A, and I have always been so impressed with how professional they are when it comes to the work they do. A little side note, I have known MK and A since I was in kindergarten..its a long story that no one would really care to hear, but I grew up being so envious of their sister/twin relationship. There is something about having a sister that I guess I will never understand, but these two seriously have something special. Oh and not to mention the fact they have built an empire from the ground up with multiple clothing lines, and a couture brand, The Row that they have created from the ground up.

For any girl who grew up watching them on TV, they always had the best clothes..even if that was a paisley outfit with matching bandana (circa 1998). Their classic style, perfectly messy hair with middle parts, and to- die for handbags are my dream. Oh and not to mention their signature no teeth smile (still waiting to master that…I don’t think it will ever happen) Needless to say, they even make a grey t-shirt look effortless.
