RECIPE DETAILS: EASY GRANOLA
On Sunday, I decided to make my dad’s ‘world famous’ granola to have on hand for the week. He has been making and perfecting this recipe since I was in high school. Get ready, because it is kind of addicting. Just like Pringles, once you pop, you can’t stop. ;) I posted a shot of the granola going in the oven on Insta Stories and received a ton of interest for the recipe, so here you go! I should mention, this isn’t your typical über healthy granola made with no grains. It’s the good stuff and totally worth every calorie.
EASY GRANOLA RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
2 cups Steel cut oats
1 cup Brown Puffed Rice cereal
1/2 cup Corn Flakes
2 tsp Chia Seads
1/2-1 cup Coconut Flakes
1/2 cup Almonds (halved or chopped)
1 tsp Salt
1 cup Agave Nectar (add more if necessary, also my dad adds in a little local honey too!)
One Fresh Orange Squeezed
1 TBS Cinnamon
DIRECTIONS
Preheat the oven to 225º. Start by mixing all of the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Mix in orange juice and agave nectar until mixture is completely coated––I use my hands to mix, but you can definitely use a spatula. Once mixture is ready, pour onto a large backing sheet. Put into the oven for 2 hours. Depending on if you like your granola super crunchy, you may need to put it back in for an additional 30 minutes to an hour. I suggest letting it cool and then flip and put it back in. Once cooled, you can break it into small pieces and place it in a large air tight container.
Throughout the week, I eat it on its own as a snack, on top of smoothie bowls, and Patrick loves it mixed in with yogurt!
