Style Details on A Dash of Details

Another week, another Style Details.

I am constantly laughing at myself due to the sheer amount of time I catch myself browsing my favorite sites for the same items week after week. My search is still never ending for the perfect linen pieces (really, one can never have enough–if you have to choose just one, go for this shirt), great denim and slides in every shade of the rainbow.

It was one of those weekends that are so good for your soul. Late night convos, a little too much rosé and some extra love in the air.

Sunshine does that to me. It happened to be the most gorgeous weekend in Dallas and what started as a low key, no plans weekend turned into some of my favorite days we’ve had in a long time. Don’t you love when that happens? The weekend started with dinner at one of my favorite Italian spots on Friday night, a barre class (I am rekindling my love for ballet) on Saturday morning followed by an extra long walk with the pups and hubs. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary or extra special, but it was just us and I loved every minute. Since it was my ideal temperature (80 and sunny, yes please!), we decided to spend the rest of the day outside sipping rosé until the sun went down. I live for weekends like this.

I don’t know if it is just Dallas, but the weather has been bipolar this week. One day is 75 and sunny and the next 40 and overcast. It has been causing my mood to be all over the place. I am the type of person who’s mood is completely affected by the weather outside. Maybe it is because I grew up in a place where it was sunny about 300 days out of the year. I find myself waking up in a better mood when the sun is shining through my window.

This is going to be a great week! Not only did I decide on Friday to wake up with a new outlook on the new year, but my momma is coming to town. Insert: excited cheers! We are super close and while I love living in Dallas, I miss living near my family. I actually haven’t lived in the same state as them since I was eighteen (when I moved away for college) but the older I get the more envious I become of my friends that have parents around the block or at least in driving distance.  The idea of Sunday brunch, pop-ins, and spontaneous mani/pedi appointments sounds magical. While I can dream of all these lovely things, at this point, living close to my parents is out of the cards. For now, I will just enjoy our vacations and keep my fingers crossed for “one day”.

Ali Schilling in Justin Boots

My uncle always told me that until you have your first pair of cowboy boots, you are not officially a Texan.  He was born and raised in Austin, Texas and I have always adored his southern accent.  Every year since I was a little girl we would visit Austin in the summer for two weeks.  This is where my love for Texas (and fashion) started.

JMcLaughlin Winter White

According to the news, Dallas is about to get hit with an “arctic blast” tonight. Not really sure what that means, but I know a few things are for sure;  I will be lighting a fire, making one of my winter soup recipes and wrapping up in comfy pjs and a blanket.  Nothing gets me more in the holiday spirit than a cold winter night.  Anyone else still adjusting to this whole pitch black at 5:30 thing? I am definitely not loving the shorter days but my sleep game has been on point.

Style Details from A Dash of Details

Cozy, Cashmere and making a statement. This week’s style details are all about these three things.

The cold, rainy weather has finally made it’s way to Dallas and I have been curled up at my desk in the comfiest sweatpants and cashmere sweaters. These sweatpants are my favorite because I can run errands and still look “put together”.  Something else on my mind is the holidays.  Maybe it is the endless commercials or that all of my favorite online stores have their gift guides up, but I am still trying to enjoy November before the madness begins.

Happy Halloween, friends!

While the holiday is not one of my favorites (I know, I know- I just hate the whole costume thing), I do love passing out candy to the neighborhood kiddos.  We are in a new neighborhood this year and I am excited to see who stops by! We may have gone a little overboard on the candy with anticipation for lots of trick-or-treaters.

“And all at once Summer collapsed into Fall.”- Oscar Wilde

Does anyone else feel like they blinked and all of a sudden we are into the last part of the year? The weather in Dallas was just about perfect this weekend and actually made me start looking at my Fall to-do list.  I haven’t fully checked anything off my list just yet, but I did make my first batch of crock pot turkey chili (yumm), enjoyed a candlelight yoga class and I started brainstorming ideas for our first annual pumpkin carving party. I swear before we know it, the holidays are going to be here. I am not sure about you, but I am not quite ready to let this year come to an end.

Ali Schilling and Reese WitherspoonDraper James Store Opening draperjamesopening_2

Yesterday was a total pinch me moment.  In case you missed it on my Instagram, I got to meet Reese Witherspoon! (eek!) It was seriously one of the coolest things I have been a part of since starting this blog almost seven years ago.  She was seriously everything you would hope she would be and more.
