“The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”- Socrates
It has now been three months since we moved to Dallas, and to say I am not completely head over heels with this city would be a lie. Shopping, great food, and amazing friends have left me feeling full. I found myself focusing most of my time off of my phone and computer (minus, the countless hours of work) without reason.
For the last two weeks, I went back and fourth about calling it quits, but every time the thought came into my mind I had a sinking feeling in my stomach. I still felt like there was something missing. The more I sat on the idea, the more I came to the realization that A Dash of Details is my passion. It is something I wake up in the morning for, and it is something I could spend countless hours on (even if only 2 people are reading my letters everyday). Never in a million years did I think this blog would give me so much joy and an outlet for all of the things I love. The funny thing is I was never much of a writer growing up, but sitting down at my computer screen everyday, thoughts just spill out onto the pages. This space has always been about what I love, who I am and all the little details in between.
While I don’t know where I am going just yet, I am focusing on building the new rather than focusing my energy on where I was. So, in case you missed me, I am back and ready to spill my heart out onto these pages again.

( Needed these sunnies all weekend long, but have a serious crush on a pair of Celine ones from Forty Five Ten )
We are starting to get settled into our cozy house and it is beginning to feel like home around here. This weekend was spent dog sitting for the cutest little pup (#missmolls and #miss zoey were not quite sure how they felt about another friend) and spent lots of time outside in the sun. I am seriously loving this Dallas weather. There is something about the sunshine that just puts me in a good mood. I also did a little shopping this weekend and have officially found my favorite white t-shirt. I feel like I am a bit of a snob when it comes to white tee’s and this Vince one is the perfect one for me.
How was your weekend?

“I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.” – E.B. White
If you haven’t noticed by my instagrams or the radio silence on the blog, Patrick and I packed up and moved to Dallas. I had been hinting about a move on the blog for a while now, but I am excited to tell ya’ll that we are officially (well almost) Texas residents. It has been quite the whirlwind of events this last week, but we are so excited for our next new adventure. Because life is not as exciting without a little adventure right?
So a little background on our move, in case you are wondering why it seemed so quick. This has been a long time coming, at least in the back of our minds. While Ohio was a nice transition spot and an opportunity for Patrick and I to be together again, we knew small town living was not our thing. Don’t get me wrong, there are some benefits to a simpler life, but we never felt at home in our small, furnished house (just think apple pie wallpaper in the kitchen and a lazy boy in the living room). While our happy life is not and should not be based on that “stuff” that makes our house a home, for us, we realized it is important in feeling settled. So here we are, in Dallas, and have already started our new jobs and living out of a suitcase at the moment. There will be a lot more updates to come about the big move, and definitely some more interior posts coming your way (cross your fingers but I think we found the perfect house).
Thank you for being patient with me if my posts are somewhat infrequent in the next couple weeks while we get settled in our new city. I promise there are lots of good things to come!
A little side note: If you are from the Dallas area, I would love to hear from you! I need all the recommendations we can get! Leave a comment or email me at email@example.com!
