Friday marked the official start to summer and we are sure feeling the heat here in Texas. Since we will be spending most of the summer in town, I plan on spending the weekends in the pool (with a huge sun hat (or maybe a visor, thoughts? and lots of sunscreen––a new favorite!) and wearing all the breezy sundresses for late night dinners with friends.
There is something special about summer nights. Maybe, it’s the long days when the sun doesn’t disappear until 9pm or everyone’s relaxed attitudes due to the increase in Vitamin D. Whatever it may be, summer has always been my favorite season.
Cooking. I set a goal to cook at least three meals at home this week (I know, I know––but honestly, I have been so bad lately). We went to the store early today and planned out for the week. Our menu: Tonight we are making a summer pasta with slow roasted red peppers, corn and sweet onion (add cheese for the hubs) and a little side salad. Monday is Teriyaki Salmon Bowls with roasted veggies and quinoa, and Tuesday is Taco Salads (a fan favorite). If I make it to Wednesday…I will be proud, lol.
Summer Sales. I know I told you last week that I am looking to add a few summer dresses to the mix. Anthropologie is having a huge sale and I am currently loading my cart with pieces up to 70% off. It is definitely worth the browse! This dress, this headband (only $10!), and this fruit basket are worth noting! J.Crew is also having 40% off. If I am being honest, I have been forgetting to search the new arrivals and I am so glad I stumbled upon them today. This top, this rollneck summer sweater, and these linen pants are headed my direction.
4th of July. This is the first time in a few years we will be spending the 4th not on Nantucket, but this doesn’t mean I am not planning festive outfits for the day and weekend! We have a big barbecue and pool day planned! I’m thinking this dress will be perfect for the night time bbq and this suit for the pool (how festive?!). I’ll also be wearing denim shorts (this is my favorite pair!) and white button down and a cute headband, too. I can’t forget to mention my trusty flag sweater I will be wearing at night. If you are going to be in cooler climates, I love the idea of pairing your flag sweater with wide leg linen white pants.
Around the web. So inspired by Liz’s workout and meal plan. Love Alicia’s birth story. As a GOOP lover, I thought Emily’s post was so interesting. Want to learn more about Samantha’s reason why she stopped drinking smoothies. Dying over Krystal’s wedding ––seriously stunning! Seriously lusting over Jillian’s stay at the Bolt Farm. Jacey is tempting me to try these hair pills.
Happy Weekend! xx
